Nancy B. Jefferson Alternative School provides high quality educational programming to meet the diverse educational and social/emotional needs of court-detained youths. We strive to balance and coordinate our educational focus with the goals and objectives of the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, Cook County Juvenile Court system and Chicago Public Schools.

Nancy B. Jefferson Alternative School seeks to become an educational community of learners that blends research-based practices with the principles of effective interventions for the dual purposes of ultimately increasing the competencies of and reducing the recidivism rate of court detained youths

The mission of Jefferson Alternative is: To inspire young adolescents as they grow intellectually and developmentally in a positive, safe and multidisciplinary environment. Jefferson will prepare students for socially responsible lives in a changing global society.
