Independence High's diverse student body represents all areas of San Francisco and reflects the city's culturally diverse population. The school opened in 1980. All Independence High School students meet one-on-one with an assigned teacher/counselor for one instructional period (45 minutes) per week to review progress on assigned work and the new assignments for the week ahead. We encourage all students to spend additional time at school for elective classes, remedial classes, CAHSEE preparation, student activities, or just to study.
